Drive Smarter! Aggressive driving wastes gas
and put others at risk. Make sure to always observe the
speed limits, avoid rapid acceleration and braking.
When you maintain a constant speed on the road ~ you save
gas and money.
Keep Your Car in Shape. Here at Arizona Day
Trails, we like to stay in shape. A tuned-up car burns
less gasoline. So make sure that you get your oil and air
filters changed regularly, and that your tires are always
properly inflated.
Take
the Times Less Traveled. Sitting still in
rush hour traffic burns gas and is frustrating. When
possible, adjust your sightseeing schedule so that you avoid
rush hour traffic. Keep away from the morning and evening
work commute times to save even more when on your day
trip adventures.
Combine
Those Trips. Forget to pickup snacks, water
or ice for your daytrip? The Department of
Energy states that several short trips taken from a cold start can use
twice as much fuel as a longer, multipurpose trip covering
the same distance when the engine is warm.
Go
for a Ride or Walk. Park that car and walk
when you can. The best photos can be taken up close
and personal here in Arizona so walk, hike or ride your bike
as often as you can. And of course, the exercise will be to
your advantage.
Pack
Light. According to the Department of
Energy, a loaded roof rack on your car can decrease fuel
economy by approximately five percent. Also, every 100
pounds you carry in a car reduces a typical car's fuel
economy by one to two percent. So, when you go on vacation
or a long car trip, put everything you can
inside your vehicle, and pack light
And remember ~ "take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints."
